If you have a valid Class 3/3A licence, you do not need to take the Basic Theory lessons. However, if you register or enrol online, the system can't tell that you have the licence. Hence, you need to go to the CDC customer service centre, show them your Class 3/3A licence, and ask them to exempt you from Basic Theory. Only then can you start booking for practical lessons.
At the customer service centre, you will get a CDC membership card and white course booklet which you need to bring for every lesson. You can also purchase your helmet, knee and elbow pads for about $50. You can buy gloves outside.
CIRCUIT TRAINING
I arrived about 10 minutes early as I didn't know where the motorcycle training area was located. It is actually located at the other end of the main building. Few things to note: (1) Bring your course booklet (2) Print out the receipt for the lesson (you can print it out at one of the 4 self-service counters at the customer service area). (3) Don't bring anything bulky as you will have to rent a locker to put your stuff in. For the Circuit Training, you don't need to bring your motorcycle gear as you are not going to ride the bike.
Trainees are taught on what to do when arriving for a practical lesson. The sequence went like this:
Step 1: Get your training vest (number and colour-coded)
Step 2: Submit your course booklet and receipt to the instructor.
Step 3: Put on your gear (except for your helmet and gloves)
Step 4: Head over to the bike area.
Step 5: Warm-up
Step 6: Put on your helmet and glove. Head over to your designated lesson area.
If you forget to bring your gear, you will have to rent from the CDC for a small fee.
After the lesson, you will head back to the counter where you will collect your course booklet. The instructor will then let you know if you passed or failed. If you passed, you will get the instructor's stamps on the booklet. If you failed, then come back again to repeat the lesson.
There are altogether 8 practical lessons (excluding revisions, tests and circuit training).
For now, I only have one stamp for completing the Circuit Training... a long way to go... time to book for Lesson 1!
